A city in the Southern Israel District, located on the border of the Judean Desert on the  ridge of Cidod about 600 meters above sea level. The city's population is mixed and consists immigrant communities, religious and secular population.Surrounding it from all sides are "Bedouin" communities, most of whom live in unrecognized villages without services  and therefore use the service that Arad provides, among them are  "well - baby clinic" (Tipat chalav). City planning was included gradual development, separated uses, separation of pedestrian traffic and motorized traffic that enabled the creation of pedestrian-only traffic systems as well as reference to the climate and desert landscape.
